More than 400 workers broke a Guinness World Record in San José del Cabo on Saturday, creating the world’s longest sashimi at the annual Sashimi Fest 2026.

The workers came from the CROC, Mexico’s Confederación Revolucionaria de Obreros y Campesinos, a major national labor confederation. Together they assembled the record-breaking sashimi display at the festival, which draws crowds to the Los Cabos area each year for its celebration of seafood and Japanese-influenced cuisine.

Guinness World Records officials certified the achievement on site. The record adds to Los Cabos’ growing reputation as a food tourism destination, where high-end dining and culinary events have become a draw alongside the region’s beaches and resorts.

Sashimi Fest 2026 is held in San José del Cabo, the quieter, arts-focused half of the Los Cabos corridor. The festival highlights the deep connection between Baja California Sur’s commercial fishing industry and its restaurant culture. Fresh yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and marlin from local waters anchor the region’s Japanese-influenced dining scene.

If you are in the Los Cabos area this weekend, the festival is still underway. Check local event listings for remaining activities and public tasting opportunities.
