La Paz’s Centro Municipal de las Artes (CMA) has opened registration for a new round of in-person and online courses covering everything from flamenco dancing to digital marketing. The classes are open to all ages, with some offered free and others at low cost.

CMA director Julieta Elorriaga Verplancken announced the new slate of workshops as part of the cultural programming initiative led by La Paz Mayor Milena Quiroga Romero. The courses run on morning, afternoon, and flexible schedules to accommodate working adults and students.

What Classes Are Available

The new offerings span practical skills, fitness, and traditional arts. Participants can sign up for crochet, singing, introductory French, natural soap-making, and digital marketing workshops. Martial arts options include Tai Chi and Wushu, while a flamenco course covers dance.

Both online and in-person formats are available. The mix of digital and hands-on classes means residents outside the city center can also participate in some offerings from home.

How to Sign Up

The CMA publishes its full course schedule, pricing details, and registration instructions on its official Facebook page. Interested residents can also call the center directly at 612-128-1612 for information on specific classes and availability.

The CMA is a municipal facility operated by the La Paz city government. It is separate from the Cultural Center of La Paz, the INAH-recognized historic building downtown that hosts art exhibitions and concerts. The CMA focuses specifically on community education through workshops and courses.

A Low-Cost Option in La Paz

For English-speaking residents of La Paz, the CMA’s programming offers an affordable way to pick up new skills or stay active. Free and low-cost municipal classes are uncommon finds in a city where private language schools and fitness studios typically charge higher rates.

The center did not specify exact pricing for paid courses, but municipal arts programs in Baja California Sur typically charge between 200 and 500 pesos (roughly $10 to $25 USD) per month. Exact fees for each class are available through the CMA’s Facebook page or phone line.
