Carnaval de Ensenada returns March 12 through 17, 2026, with six nights of parades, live concerts, and street festivities expected to draw 400,000 visitors to Baja California’s port city. Notably, the celebration was moved from its original February dates to mid-March this year. This gives organizers additional time to assemble what they are calling the most ambitious entertainment lineup in the carnival’s history. Furthermore, the city has committed 16 million pesos in public funding. The event transforms the Playa Hermosa esplanade into an open-air concert venue with 11 musical acts across six nights.
Carnaval de Ensenada 2026 Entertainment Lineup
Headliners include La Parranda Tour on Thursday night, Alicia Villarreal on Friday, Paty Cantu on Saturday, and Banda MS closing the weekend on Sunday. Concerts begin at approximately 11:00 p.m. each night. Importantly, general admission to all concerts is free. However, VIP preferential seating zones are available through the carnival’s official website and at designated box office locations along the malecón.
Parade Routes and Schedule
In addition, three carnival parades wind through Ensenada’s downtown streets during the celebration. For example, the Saturday parade steps off at 7:00 p.m. from Calle Plinta heading south. It features elaborate floats, costumed dance troupes, marching bands, and the crowning of the carnival queen. Meanwhile, the Sunday parade reverses the route, departing Calle Macheros at 7:00 p.m. and heading north to Calle Plinta. Finally, a closing Tuesday parade departs Calle Plinta at 6:00 p.m. for the carnival’s closing procession. For visitors driving from San Diego, they should take the Ensenada toll road (Mexico 1D) south from the San Ysidro crossing, a drive of approximately 80 minutes. Street parking near the parade route fills early, so arriving before 5:00 p.m. on parade days is advisable. Hotels along the malecón and Boulevard Costero book quickly during carnival week, and many require a minimum two-night stay.
