The FGE is urging anyone who has seen Gutiérrez Soria or has information about his whereabouts to contact the agency directly. Baja California’s FGE can be reached through its emergency line or through local police stations in Ensenada.

Missing Persons Cases in the Region

The case comes as Ensenada continues to grapple with missing persons reports. Baja California has long faced challenges with disappearances, and the state’s search commissions have handled a growing number of cases in recent years. Ensenada, a port city of roughly 540,000 people located about 80 miles south of the U.S. border at Tijuana, is home to a large community of American and Canadian expats in addition to its resident population.

The city drew international attention in 2024 after three foreign surfers, two Australians and one American, disappeared and were later found dead near La Bocana, south of Ensenada. That case prompted renewed scrutiny of security conditions along the Baja California coast.

Residents of Ensenada’s expat communities in areas such as El Sauzal, the Punta Banda corridor, and the city center are encouraged to share Gutiérrez Soria’s description widely. Anyone with information can also file an anonymous report through the FGE’s online portal.
