Officers from Ensenada’s specialized domestic violence unit arrested a man on the morning of April 19 after responding to a call in the Jesús Munguía neighborhood. The suspect was accused of physically and verbally assaulting his partner at a residence on Calle Constituyentes.
Escuadrón Violeta Responds to Emergency Call
The woman placed the call herself through the city’s C5 emergency line. She authorized officers to enter the home and confirmed the attack upon their arrival.
The responding officers belonged to the Escuadrón Violeta, a unit within the Victim Attention Unit (UNAVI-EV) of Ensenada’s Municipal Public Safety Directorate. The squad specializes in domestic violence and gender-based crime response.
How the Specialized Unit Works
Escuadrón Violeta operates as a dedicated rapid-response team for domestic violence incidents across Ensenada. The unit was created to provide trained personnel who can handle sensitive cases involving intimate partner violence, threats, and related crimes.
Colonia Jesús Munguía sits in the eastern part of Ensenada, a residential area several kilometers inland from the tourist corridor along the waterfront and Avenida López Mateos. Calle Constituyentes runs through the neighborhood’s interior.
The suspect was detained at the scene. Ensenada police did not release his name or specify the charges filed, though Mexican law classifies domestic violence as a criminal offense that can carry prison sentences depending on the severity of injuries and prior offenses.
