Baja California’s state government will deploy free mobile health caravans to three municipalities from June 9 to 13, offering everything from mammograms to dental care at no cost. Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas announced the five-day program, which targets underserved communities but is open to all residents.
The caravans will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at three fixed locations: Colonia Corregidora in Mexicali, Campamento Las Brisas near Punta Colonet in Ensenada, and Parque José Cruz Navarro in Playas de Rosarito.
What Services Are Available
The mobile units will provide general medicine consultations, dental care, and psychological services. Diagnostic imaging includes X-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, bone density scans, and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
Beyond basic care, the caravans will offer screening for chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Cataract surgery registration will also be available for patients who qualify. Sexual and reproductive health guidance, mental health support, and addiction services round out the clinical offerings.
Vaccinations and IMSS-BIENESTAR Enrollment
Universal vaccinations will be administered at all three locations, and pet vaccination services are included as well. Residents who lack public health coverage can enroll on-site in IMSS-BIENESTAR, the federal program that replaced the old Seguro Popular system and provides free healthcare to people without employer-based insurance.
The caravans will also run healthy-habit programming, though specific workshop topics were not detailed in the announcement.
Where to Go
The Punta Colonet location, Campamento Las Brisas, sits in a rural agricultural area roughly 100 miles south of Ensenada along the Transpeninsular Highway (Highway 1). This stop targets farmworker communities with limited access to clinics. In Rosarito, Parque José Cruz Navarro is a well-known municipal park near the city center. The Mexicali site in Colonia Corregidora serves a residential neighborhood on the city’s east side.
No appointments are required. All services are first-come, first-served during the 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. operating window. The program runs Monday through Friday, ending June 13.
