The Los Cabos Institute of Culture and Arts presented a new poetry anthology at the Cerrito del Timbre gallery last week, gathering writers, critics, and community members to mark International Women’s Day.

The collection, titled Soy Mujer (I Am Woman), brings together poems from 33 female authors in the Sudcalifornianas en la Literatura collective. The group promotes women writers from Baja California Sur. Their work explores identity, daily life, and the social challenges women navigate today.

Lourdes Anguiano, Osiris Mendívil, and Alan Castro Ruiz spoke at the presentation. Each offered reflections on the collection’s themes and its place in the region’s literary life. Héctor Guerrero Santiesteban, coordinator of the Casa de la Cultura, described the turnout as strong and the event as significant for local literary promotion.

The Los Cabos Institute of Culture and Arts, the municipal body that funds and organizes cultural programming across the region, backed the project. ICA director Tanya Covarrubias Martínez received recognition at the event for her institutional support.

For residents and visitors, the anthology launch reflects a broader push to develop Los Cabos’ cultural life beyond its resort economy. The Cerrito del Timbre gallery sits in the municipal arts complex and regularly hosts visual art and literary events open to the public.

The Sudcalifornianas en la Literatura collective plans to continue publishing and hosting events that bring women’s voices into Baja Sur’s public cultural conversation. No dates for upcoming events were announced at the presentation.
