The Mercado Sostenible de San José del Cabo is accepting applications from local producers, artisans, and food makers who want to sell at the government-backed weekly market. The program operates at two locations: Calle Morelos on Tuesdays and Plaza Pescador on Wednesdays.
INDESO (Instituto de Desarrollo Sustentable, the municipal sustainable development institute) and the Los Cabos municipal government run the market. Vendors go through a vetting process designed to keep the product mix balanced across food, crafts, and other locally made goods.
Two Weekly Locations in Downtown San José
Both market sites sit in central San José del Cabo. Calle Morelos runs through the town’s historic Art District, a pedestrian-friendly stretch well known to residents and visitors. Plaza Pescador is also in the downtown core, giving vendors access to steady foot traffic on two separate weekdays.
Interested sellers can contact the Mercado Sostenible through the Los Cabos municipal government’s official channels for enrollment details. The city has not announced a deadline for applications.
A Growing Market Scene in Los Cabos
The Sustainable Market joins an established network of open-air markets across the Los Cabos municipality. The San José Mercado Orgánico (SANJOMO), founded in 2002, holds its weekly Saturday market at La Huerta María near downtown San José del Cabo from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. That market focuses on organic produce, prepared food, arts, crafts, and educational activities. Cabo San Lucas has its own organic market at the Pedregal neighborhood, and the Tourist Corridor hosts vendors at The Shoppes at Palmilla.
The Mercado Sostenible differs from these existing markets by operating on weekdays and carrying the direct backing of INDESO, the municipal agency charged with sustainability policy. Its two-day-a-week schedule on Tuesdays and Wednesdays fills a gap for shoppers and vendors who cannot make the Saturday organic markets.
Producers interested in applying can visit the Los Cabos municipal government website for contact information and requirements, as reported by the Los Cabos city government.
