The 2026 Ruta del Café community running race takes place Saturday, April 26, on the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) campus in Tijuana. The 7-kilometer course starts at the campus American football field and finishes at the UABC School of Sports track.

Organizer Germán Rodríguez and his digital community page “Yo También Corro en Tijuana” are hosting the event, which doubles as the third edition of the group’s annual “Corriendo en Primavera” spring race. This year’s coffee theme gives the race its name and branding.

Course Details and What to Expect

Of the 7 kilometers, roughly 2.5 kilometers run on paved roads while the rest covers cross-country terrain across the UABC campus. The university is located at Av. Las Américas 4633 in the El Paraíso neighborhood of Tijuana, about 15 minutes south of the San Ysidro border crossing.

Organizers expect around 2,000 runners. The event will include hydration stations along the route and at the finish line, medical services, restrooms, parking, and a bag check area. Music, raffles, promotional mascots, and sponsor giveaways are also planned.

A Growing Tradition on Campus

The race builds on two prior spring editions held at the same UABC campus. The School of Sports faculty, led by its director, has supported the event in each of its three years. UABC’s Tijuana campus regularly hosts athletic events, including a half marathon scheduled for later in 2025.

“Yo También Corro en Tijuana” operates as a social media community that organizes casual, open-to-the-public races in the city. The group has grown into one of Tijuana’s most active grassroots running organizations.

Registration details and start times have not yet been publicly confirmed. Interested runners can check the “Yo También Corro en Tijuana” social media pages for updates. The event was first reported by Semanario ZETA.
