The Los Cabos municipal government is officially backing a July 3 gala celebrating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, with all proceeds going to the Mexican Red Cross. The event will take place at Hotel Hacienda Encantada in Cabo San Lucas, one day before the United States marks its semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.

The municipality’s Tourism and Public Relations directors endorsed the celebration, framing it as a cultural exchange initiative between Mexico and the United States. Representatives from the U.S. Consulate are expected to attend, giving the evening both diplomatic weight and charitable purpose.

Charity and Diplomacy at Hacienda Encantada

Hotel Hacienda Encantada sits along the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. The resort has hosted large-scale events in the past, and its selection as the venue places the gala in one of the region’s most recognized luxury properties.

Every peso raised at the event will go directly to the Mexican Red Cross, the country’s primary humanitarian aid organization. The Red Cross in Baja California Sur responds to emergencies ranging from hurricane relief to roadside accidents, and its Los Cabos chapter serves a municipality with a rapidly growing population.

A Pre-Fourth Celebration With Official Support

The timing, one night before the Fourth of July, aligns with celebrations taking place across the United States. California’s state government has organized its own 250th anniversary commemorations around the same date. In Los Cabos, where tens of thousands of American expats and seasonal residents live, the July 3 event offers a local way to mark the occasion.

Official municipal backing for a U.S. independence celebration is notable. The endorsement from both the Tourism and Public Relations offices of the Los Cabos ayuntamiento (municipal government) positions the gala as part of the city’s broader strategy of strengthening ties with the American community that drives much of the local economy.

The U.S. Consulate’s participation adds a formal diplomatic layer. American consular officials in Baja California Sur regularly attend community events, but consular involvement in an independence anniversary gala at this scale is less common.

Details on ticket prices and the evening’s program have not yet been released. The announcement was published on July 2 by the Los Cabos municipal government at loscabos.gob.mx.
