The Los Cabos Institute of Culture and Arts (ICA) brought a contemporary dance performance to Cobach #04 high school in Cabo San Lucas as part of its Rutas Creativas program, which delivers live arts programming directly into public classrooms across the municipality.

The performance, titled “Entre versos y prosas” (Between Verses and Prose), was staged by the Arrobadanza Arte Escénico company. The show blended literature and movement through original choreography and live music, giving students an experience that combined dance with literary themes.

Rutas Creativas Reaches All Delegations

Rutas Creativas, which translates to “Creative Routes,” is a municipal program that sends professional artists into public schools at every level. The initiative covers all delegations within the Los Cabos municipality, including Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and outlying communities.

The program’s offerings span four disciplines: dance, theater, music, and literature. Each performance is brought directly to campuses so students do not need to travel or pay for access. Cobach #04, a state-run preparatory school in the Colegio de Bachilleres system, was the most recent host campus.

Part of a Broader Cultural Push

The ICA operates under the current administration of Los Cabos Mayor Oscar Leggs Castro, with the Rutas Creativas program forming one piece of a broader municipal effort to expand arts access. The Agúndez Gómez administration, which launched these cultural initiatives, positioned the program as a way to close the gap between professional performing arts and public school students who might not otherwise attend live performances.

Los Cabos has historically concentrated its cultural offerings in tourist zones and private venues. Programs like Rutas Creativas aim to push professional-level arts into neighborhoods and schools that sit outside those areas. For families with children enrolled in the public school system, the program provides exposure to performing arts at no cost.

The Arrobadanza Arte Escénico company specializes in contemporary dance and has performed at educational venues across Baja California Sur. Their “Entre versos y prosas” production was designed specifically for student audiences, using accessible themes drawn from poetry and prose.

The ICA has not announced a public schedule for upcoming Rutas Creativas visits, but the program is expected to continue rotating through public schools across the municipality throughout the current school year.
