La Paz will host the Mexican Chamber of the Construction Industry (CMIC) national forum for the first time, bringing more than 300 construction professionals to the Baja California Sur capital from September 17 to 19.

The three-day event will take place at the La Paz Convention Center. Delegates from across Mexico will gather to discuss industry challenges and development proposals during the forum, which coincides with CMIC’s 50th anniversary.

A First for Baja California Sur

Baja California Sur has never before hosted the CMIC national forum, which rotates among Mexican states each year. State officials said the selection of La Paz is part of a strategic push to position the city as a competitive destination for national business conferences and congresses.

The CMIC is one of Mexico’s most influential business chambers. It represents construction companies nationwide and serves as a key liaison between the private sector and government on infrastructure policy and public works contracts.

Construction Activity and a Busy Calendar

The September forum is not the only CMIC event headed for La Paz this year. A separate Expo Construcción CMIC is scheduled for November 14 to 16, also at the La Paz Convention Center. That expo, organized through the CMIC’s Baja California Sur delegation, focuses on construction products, services, and technology.

The back-to-back events come as BCS experiences rapid development, particularly along the Los Cabos corridor and in La Paz itself. Hotel construction, residential projects, and infrastructure upgrades have kept the local construction sector busy in recent years. The CMIC’s BCS delegation, based in La Paz, has been active in coordinating public and private investment in the region.

For La Paz, a city of roughly 300,000 people, hosting a national forum of this scale is a logistical test and an economic boost. Hotels, restaurants, and service providers near the convention center on the malecón stand to benefit from the influx of out-of-state visitors.

The announcement was reported by the Baja California Sur state government via its official website.
