Baja California Sur’s Attorney General’s Office (PGJE) will host its second annual “Vida Libre de Violencia” 5K race in La Paz on Sunday, July 12, with all registration fees going to support female victims of violence.

The recreational race begins at 7:00 a.m. from the Women’s Justice Center (CJM) facilities, located at the intersection of Carabineros and Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio. Participants can run, walk, or jog the 5K route. The early start time is designed to beat the summer heat in La Paz, where July morning temperatures typically hover around 30°C (86°F).

Proceeds Fund Support for Violence Victims

Every peso collected through registration will go directly into a fund for women who use the CJM’s services. The Women’s Justice Center provides legal, psychological, and social support to female victims of gender-based violence across Baja California Sur. The center serves as a one-stop resource where victims can access multiple services under one roof.

The PGJE organized the event in coordination with the Baja California Sur Sports Institute (INSUDE), the La Paz municipal government, the Runners Mx running club, and several local businesses. This is the second year for the race, which launched in 2025 under the same “Life Free of Violence” banner.

How to Register

Registration is available online at http://www.huamdeportiva.com/libredeviolencia5k2026 or in person at the CJM offices on Boulevard Luis Donaldo Colosio. The CJM is located in the eastern part of La Paz, along one of the city’s main thoroughfares that runs parallel to the waterfront malecón before heading toward the Pichilingue port area.

The race is open to all fitness levels. No competitive times or qualifying marks are required. Organizers have positioned the event as both a community gathering and a fundraising effort, giving residents and visitors a concrete way to contribute to victim support services in the state capital.

La Paz, a city of roughly 300,000 people, serves as the capital of Baja California Sur and is home to a growing population of foreign residents. The event was first reported by Colectivo Pericú.
