A documentary capturing singer-songwriter Ed Maverick’s live performance at one of Mexico City’s most prestigious venues arrives at Tijuana’s Cinemex Platino Plaza Península on May 13. The film, titled La Nube en el Jardín en vivo desde la Sala Nezahualcóyotl, is part of a final national theatrical run before it exits distribution.
Directed by Olmo Guerra, the documentary offers a close look at the artist’s return to the Sala Nezahualcóyotl, the renowned concert hall inside the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) campus in Mexico City. The venue, with a capacity of roughly 2,300 seats, is one of the country’s most respected spaces for acoustic performances.
Who Is Ed Maverick?
Born Eduardo Hernández Saucedo in Delicias, Chihuahua, Ed Maverick rose to national fame as a teenager with his 2019 debut album Mix Pa’ Llorar En Tu Cuarto. The record sold more than 30,000 units and earned him a Gold Record in Mexico. His style blends bedroom folk with indie pop, and his songs about heartbreak and youth have built a devoted following among younger audiences across the country.
The 24-year-old artist later sold out two dates at the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City and headlined the Metropolitan Theater. He has also performed at Tijuana’s Centro Cultural Tijuana (CECUT) on Paseo de los Héroes.
Limited Screenings at Plaza Península
Cinemex Platino Plaza Península is located in the Zona Río district of Tijuana, a short drive from the San Ysidro border crossing. The Platino format typically offers reclining seats, expanded food menus, and premium projection. Ticket prices for Cinemex Platino screens in Tijuana generally range from 180 to 250 pesos (roughly $10 to $14 USD), though pricing for special event screenings may vary.
The screenings are described as the closing window of the film’s national cinema release. No end date for the Tijuana run has been announced, so viewers should check Cinemex listings for showtimes.
