Armed men entered a two-story house in eastern Tijuana on Friday evening and fatally shot a woman while her two grandchildren were present. The attack occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Calle Lobato in the Los Lobos subdivision, near Boulevard Casa Blanca.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and seeing several men flee the scene. They called 911, and municipal police, firefighters, and Red Cross paramedics responded within minutes. The woman was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Children Placed Under Protection

The victim’s two grandchildren, a young boy and a teenage girl, were inside the home during the shooting. Authorities removed both minors and placed them under protective custody. The city’s UMAS social support unit provided psychological assistance to the children and other family members at the scene.

The Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) processed the crime scene and collected evidence. The victim’s body was transported to the forensic medical service for autopsy. No arrests have been made, and investigators have not identified a motive.

Pattern of Violence in Los Lobos

The killing is part of a pattern of targeted armed attacks in the Los Lobos neighborhood. Local media reported a separate attack on a man in the same area in recent weeks. The subdivision sits along Tijuana’s eastern corridor, an area that has experienced repeated episodes of cartel-linked violence.

Tijuana continues to record some of the highest homicide rates in Baja California. In May 2026, a couple in their mid-20s was shot and killed in the Lomas del Porvenir neighborhood near Playas de Tijuana. In August 2025, an armed attack at a market in the Mariano Matamoros neighborhood killed one woman and injured two others, including a child under eight years old.

The Los Lobos area is located in Tijuana’s sprawling eastern zone, well away from the tourist corridors near the border crossing and Avenida Revolución. Boulevard Casa Blanca runs through a residential stretch of the city that has seen increasing security incidents over the past year.

The FGE investigation remains open. This story was first reported by Punto Norte.
