A man’s body was discovered stuffed into black garbage bags and left on a sidewalk at the corner of Boulevard 2000 and Boulevard Casa Blanca in eastern Tijuana on Wednesday morning. Municipal Police and National Guard units reported the discovery around 7:00 a.m., during peak commute hours.
Officers secured the perimeter near the Paseo 2000 plaza overpass and notified the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE), Baja California’s state attorney general’s office. Forensic investigators processed the scene. The victim showed severe head trauma with visible cranial matter, according to the initial report.
High-Traffic Location During Morning Rush
The body was placed in black bags secured with yellow straps. Boulevard 2000 is a major commercial corridor in Tijuana’s eastern zone, meaning morning commuters and shoppers encountered an active crime scene. No arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified the victim.
The method of leaving a body in bags on a public sidewalk is consistent with patterns seen in other recent Tijuana killings. In April, a separate body wrapped in a sleeping bag was dumped at another busy eastern Tijuana intersection, also showing blunt-force head trauma, according to Border Report.
Killings Persist Despite Reported Homicide Drop
This incident comes as Baja California state authorities have claimed a 42% reduction in homicides following a large-scale military deployment across the region. The deployment brought hundreds of additional soldiers and National Guard members to Tijuana’s streets. Still, individual killings of this nature continue to occur across the city.
Tijuana has ranked among Mexico’s most violent cities for years, with cartel conflicts driving much of the bloodshed. The eastern zone, where Boulevard 2000 is located, sits several miles from the San Ysidro Port of Entry and is a heavily developed commercial and residential area familiar to cross-border commuters.
The FGE has not released further details about the investigation. The story was first reported by Punto Norte.
