A six-year-old girl was struck by a motorcycle on Sunday afternoon in the La Pasión neighborhood of La Paz, Baja California Sur. Paramedics responded to the scene and found the child without serious injuries, though she was taken to a local hospital for a full medical evaluation.
The accident occurred on Calle Tomillo, between the streets of Árnica and Hidra. Paramedics from Grupo Calafia, a private emergency response service, arrived first and assessed the girl at the scene.
Child Transported to Hospital as Precaution
Despite finding no apparent serious injuries, responders transported the girl to Juan María de Salvatierra Hospital in La Paz for a complete checkup. The hospital is the main public medical facility in the city, located on the Transpeninsular Highway near the Fidepaz area.
La Paz Municipal Police officers arrived at the scene and filed an official report. Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
Teenage Rider Reportedly Operating Motorcycle
Unofficial reports from the scene indicate the motorcycle was being operated by a 16-year-old minor. Under Mexican law, minors involved in traffic incidents are subject to different legal procedures than adults. Authorities have not confirmed the rider’s age or released further details.
An investigation to determine responsibility for the accident is ongoing. La Paz police have not said whether the motorcycle rider will face any charges or citations.
Construction Activity Adding Traffic to Area
The La Pasión neighborhood, located in the southern part of La Paz, is currently experiencing increased traffic due to the construction of a new water tank in the area. Residents and those passing through should expect heavier vehicle and motorcycle activity on neighborhood streets during the construction period.
Motorcycle accidents involving pedestrians have been a recurring concern in La Paz neighborhoods where narrow residential streets see a mix of foot traffic, construction vehicles, and two-wheeled transportation. La Paz Municipal Police have not announced any additional traffic enforcement measures for the area.
