Baja California’s mobile health caravans will offer free medical services in San Quintín from Tuesday, May 19, through Saturday, May 23. The five-day setup marks the latest stop for the state’s traveling clinic program, which rotates through underserved communities across the state.
The caravans will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the soccer field on Avenida 16 de Septiembre and Calle D in Ejido Profesor Graciano Sánchez. No appointment or insurance is required. All services are free.
What Services Are Available
The mobile health caravans typically provide general medical consultations, preventive screenings, and primary care. Baja California State Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas said reaching residents in remote and vulnerable communities remains a core priority for the state government.
San Quintín sits roughly 300 kilometers (about 185 miles) south of Tijuana along the Transpeninsular Highway. The agricultural valley is home to tens of thousands of farmworkers and their families, many of whom have limited access to permanent clinics. The nearest major hospital is in Ensenada, a roughly three-hour drive north.
Part of a Statewide Rotation
The mobile caravans visited Mexicali, Ensenada, and San Quintín earlier in May, running from May 5 through May 9. This week’s return to San Quintín follows that same rotation pattern, bringing state health resources back to the region on a regular schedule.
For English-speaking residents in the San Quintín valley, the clinics can serve as a practical option for basic checkups and preventive care. No Spanish fluency is needed for routine exams, though bringing a bilingual friend or basic translation app may help with more detailed consultations.
The location in Ejido Profesor Graciano Sánchez is on the east side of the highway, within the main San Quintín urban area. Those driving south from Ensenada should watch for Avenida 16 de Septiembre near the center of town.
