The Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is asking the public for help locating Oscar Francisco Pale Vargas, a 42-year-old Ensenada resident known by the alias “Fatima,” who has been missing since January 2024.

Pale Vargas was last seen in the arroyo area of the Colonia Munguía neighborhood in Ensenada. The FGE’s renewed public appeal means the case remains open and unresolved more than a year after the disappearance.

Physical Description and Contact Information

Authorities describe Pale Vargas as having a slender build, light brown skin, and shoulder-length brown hair. A distinguishing feature is a large black cross tattoo on the right arm. The individual typically wears women’s clothing.

Disappearances Remain a Pressing Issue in Baja California

The case is one of many active missing persons investigations in the Ensenada area. Just this month, the same FGE office issued a separate appeal to locate a mother and her children who disappeared from Colonia Ignacio Allende in Ensenada in January 2026. Baja California has long struggled with a high number of unresolved disappearances, and the state’s Missing Persons Search Unit regularly publishes appeals seeking community assistance.

Colonia Munguía sits in the eastern part of Ensenada, near the dry creek beds (arroyos) that run through the city’s hillside neighborhoods. The area is known to residents but may be less familiar to visitors. It is located roughly east of downtown and the tourist zone along the waterfront.

The FGE’s decision to continue publicizing the case more than a year after Pale Vargas went missing is consistent with its practice of periodically reissuing alerts for unresolved disappearances. Authorities have not disclosed whether foul play is suspected or released details about the circumstances of the disappearance.
