The Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has issued a public alert seeking help locating a 61-year-old man who disappeared in Ensenada earlier this month. José Luis Ramírez Zapién was last seen on April 10, 2026, in the Colonia Benito Juárez neighborhood, a residential area in the city’s urban core.

Description of the Missing Man

Ramírez Zapién is described as having a medium build and a light brown complexion. He has curly hair, thick eyebrows, medium brown eyes, and a mustache.

When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt, and black sneakers. He has a distinguishing tattoo on his right arm: a heart with the name “Alejandra.”

How to Report Information

The FGE is urging anyone with information about Ramírez Zapién’s whereabouts to contact authorities immediately. Tips can be called in to the FGE at (646) 152-25-00, using extensions 2560 or 2561. Callers can also reach the emergency line at 911 or the anonymous tip line at 089.

The 089 tip line allows callers to report information without providing their identity, a tool commonly used across Baja California for sensitive cases. All three contact options are available around the clock.

Missing Persons Cases in Baja California

Disappearances remain a persistent concern in Baja California. The state has been among Mexico’s most affected regions for missing persons cases, with Tijuana, Ensenada, and Mexicali all reporting significant caseloads in recent years. The FGE regularly issues public search alerts, relying on community cooperation to help track down individuals whose whereabouts are unknown.

Colonia Benito Juárez sits in a densely populated section of Ensenada, roughly a 90-minute drive south of the U.S. border at San Ysidro. The neighborhood is familiar to many residents and visitors who pass through the city’s central corridors.

Anyone who recognizes Ramírez Zapién or has seen him since April 10 is asked to contact the FGE or local emergency services immediately. This story was first reported by Ensenada.net.
