Baja California’s mobile health program, Caravanas de Salud, will set up a free walk-in clinic in San Vicente from Tuesday, April 14 through Saturday, April 18. The clinic will offer medical consultations and health screenings at no cost on Avenida 16 de Septiembre, in front of the Delegación and Parque Central in the agricultural town about 90 minutes south of Ensenada on Highway 1.

Hours will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily, an extended schedule designed to accommodate farmworkers in the region’s agricultural valley. No appointment is required. The caravan operates on a walk-in basis.

Early Detection for Rural Communities

Baja California’s Secretary of Health, Adrián Medina Amarillas, said the Caravanas de Salud program is built to bring early disease detection and follow-up care directly to communities with limited access to permanent health facilities. San Vicente, a small town in the Ensenada municipality, serves as a hub for surrounding ranches and farming operations in the Santo Tomás and San Quintín corridor.

The clinic will provide basic medical consultations and preventive screenings. For residents of outlying areas, this type of mobile unit is often the most accessible form of medical care available.

What to Know Before You Go

San Vicente sits along the Transpeninsular Highway (Mexico 1), roughly 88 kilometers (55 miles) south of central Ensenada. The clinic location on Avenida 16 de Septiembre is in the town’s center, near the main plaza. Drivers heading south toward San Quintín or the Valle de Guadalupe wine region will pass directly through town.

The Caravanas de Salud program is a state-run initiative that rotates mobile medical units through rural and underserved areas across Baja California. These caravans typically offer general medical exams, blood pressure checks, glucose screenings, and referrals to specialists when needed. Services are free and open to all, regardless of residency status or nationality.

For anyone in the Ensenada area without a regular doctor or looking to avoid wait times at IMSS or ISSSTECALI facilities, the five-day clinic window offers a practical alternative.
