State security agents arrested a 56-year-old man identified as a priority target for street-level drug dealing in the La Presa II neighborhood of Ensenada on Friday afternoon. The Fuerza Estatal de Seguridad Ciudadana (FESC), Baja California’s state police force, carried out the detention around 2:23 p.m. after executing an existing arrest warrant.
The suspect, identified as Manuel Salvador “N,” is a native of Ensenada. Authorities described him as a known figure in the local narco-retail trade, with a criminal record dating back to 2023. His designation as a “priority objective” places him on a structured list of high-value targets that state security forces actively pursue.
Intelligence-Led Operation in Known Drug Zone
The arrest grew out of a surveillance operation in La Presa II, a neighborhood in eastern Ensenada that has experienced persistent narco-retail activity. FESC agents identified Manuel Salvador “N” during routine patrols and confirmed the outstanding judicial warrant before moving in.
Priority-target arrests differ from routine street stops. They involve coordinated intelligence work, judicial paperwork secured in advance, and planned operations to locate specific individuals. The FESC’s public description of the suspect as a “generator of insecurity” in the La Presa II zone points to a pattern of repeated offenses tied to that area.
FESC Steps Up Ensenada Operations in 2026
The arrest is the latest in a series of FESC enforcement actions in Ensenada this year. In February, agents detained an armed suspect during a traffic stop in the city. The state force has also been active on drug interdiction routes: in October 2024, FESC officers seized nearly 20 kilograms of methamphetamine in Ensenada, arresting two people in that operation.
La Presa II sits in one of Ensenada’s inland residential zones, east of the city center and away from the tourist corridor along the waterfront and Avenida López Mateos. Residents and expats in the broader Ensenada area are unlikely to encounter enforcement operations in the tourist districts, though the FESC’s continued activity in neighborhoods like La Presa II reflects the port city’s ongoing struggle with street-level drug sales.
Manuel Salvador “N” was turned over to prosecutors following the arrest. No details were released about the specific charges tied to the warrant. The story was first reported by Semanario ZETA.
