The Baja California Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is asking the public for help locating a 48-year-old Ensenada man who has been missing since April 30 and requires insulin to manage his diabetes.
Josué Fabián Sánchez Lugo was last seen around 2 p.m. that day leaving his home on Calle Pedro Moreno in Ensenada’s Colonia Aviación neighborhood. He drove away in a white 2014 Nissan Sentra with license plates BO1NRT9 and has not been heard from since.
Medical Condition Raises Urgency
Sánchez Lugo has diabetes and depends on regular insulin treatment. His medical condition makes finding him quickly a matter of life and death, as prolonged time without insulin can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, a potentially fatal complication.
Authorities described him as 5 feet 8 inches tall with a heavyset build and medium-light complexion. He has short dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing a green plaid shirt and blue jeans.
How to Report Information
The FGE is urging anyone who has seen Sánchez Lugo or the white 2014 Nissan Sentra to contact authorities immediately. Colonia Aviación sits in the central part of Ensenada, roughly 70 miles south of the U.S. border at Tijuana, in an area familiar to many expats and visitors who pass through the city.
Missing persons cases involving medical dependencies have drawn public attention in the Ensenada area before. In 2024, the disappearance of three surfers near Ensenada, one of whom was a Type 1 diabetic, drew international media coverage and prompted urgent search operations by state and local law enforcement.
Anyone with information about Sánchez Lugo’s whereabouts can contact the FGE through its emergency lines or visit the nearest prosecutor’s office in Ensenada. This report was first published by Ensenada.net.
