Rosarito Mayor Rocío Adame signed on to a national program aimed at strengthening families and reducing cycles of domestic violence. The initiative, called the Estrategia Nacional de Fortalecimiento Familiar, is part of President Claudia Sheinbaum’s social policy agenda and is administered by Mexico’s national DIF system.
Adame announced the move in February alongside Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda and national DIF head María del Rocío García Pérez, according to San Diego Red. The program focuses on improving communication across different family structures and building what officials described as a more resilient social fabric in communities with high rates of domestic conflict.
Rosarito was also recognized at the event for creating the Dirección de Pueblos Indígenas, a new municipal department serving indigenous communities in the beach city. The Universidad Autónoma de Baja California is participating as a strategic partner for program implementation.
The program is largely symbolic at this stage. But it signals that the Adame administration is aligning with federal social priorities. For the English-speaking community in Rosarito, the program’s success or failure will show up in the quality of local social services and community safety over the next two years.
