Los Cabos is running hot this March. Daytime temperatures in the resort corridor have reached 30°C (86°F) during the first week of the month — about 10 degrees Fahrenheit above the typical March average of 70°F for the area. Inland areas like Comondú have hit 38°C (100°F), according to Cabo Sun.
The heat has arrived just as tens of thousands of spring break visitors descend on Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Visitors expecting mild, dry weather are instead getting conditions that feel more like June.
This is not a one-day spike. The first week of March 2026 has shattered temperature records from the previous four years. Climatologists say the pattern is consistent with broader warming trends across the Gulf of California and Pacific coast of Baja.
For travelers already in Los Cabos, the practical impact is straightforward: drink more water than you think you need, wear sunscreen and hats, and avoid midday outdoor activities between noon and 3 PM. Hotel air conditioning is handling the load so far.
The heat wave is expected to ease slightly by mid-March. But forecasters say above-average warmth will likely persist through April.
