Mexico’s SAT (Tax Administration Service) will operate a mobile office inside the Palacio Municipal in Santa Rosalía from March 23 through March 27, 2026. Celina Ramírez, secretary general of the Mulegé municipal government, announced the temporary module and said it will serve more than 600 taxpayers across the municipality.

Over 600 Taxpayers Expected at Palacio Municipal

The mobile SAT office will handle standard federal tax services, including taxpayer registration, RFC (federal taxpayer ID) issuance, and electronic signature updates. Ramírez said the goal is to bring essential services directly to residents so they do not need to travel to La Paz or another major city.

Santa Rosalía sits on the Sea of Cortez coast, roughly 360 miles south of the U.S. border at Tijuana. It is the administrative seat of the Mulegé municipality, one of the largest and most sparsely populated in Baja California Sur. The nearest permanent SAT office is in La Paz, about a four-hour drive south on the Transpeninsular Highway (Highway 1).

That distance makes routine tax errands a full-day commitment for residents. Ramírez stressed that bringing the mobile module to Santa Rosalía removes a significant barrier for both individuals and small business owners who need to stay current on federal tax obligations.

What Services the SAT Module Will Offer

SAT mobile modules typically handle RFC registrations, e.firma (electronic signature) renewals, tax status certificates, and constancias de situación fiscal, the proof-of-tax-status documents that Mexican employers and banks increasingly require. Walk-in appointments are standard at mobile modules, but SAT often recommends arriving early because demand in underserved areas tends to exceed capacity.

The Mulegé municipality stretches across a vast section of central Baja California Sur, including communities like Mulegé town, Bahía Asunción, Guerrero Negro, and the islands of the Loreto Bay area to the south. Residents from these smaller towns may also travel to Santa Rosalía during the five-day window to use the temporary office.

The module will operate during regular business hours inside the Palacio Municipal, located in Santa Rosalía’s historic downtown near the landmark Iglesia de Santa Bárbara, a prefabricated iron church designed by Gustave Eiffel’s workshop. The SAT mobile office runs through March 27, according to BCS Noticias.
