Municipal pothole repair crews are working overnight shifts on Calle Malvarrosa in the Magisterial neighborhood of San José del Cabo. The Los Cabos city government (XV Ayuntamiento) deployed the teams through its Public Works department as part of the ongoing Cazabaches program.
Round-the-Clock Pothole Repair Program
The Cazabaches program, whose name translates roughly to “pothole hunters,” operates three daily shifts: morning, afternoon, and evening. Crews respond to citizen complaints and prioritize high-traffic streets for repair. The nighttime scheduling on Calle Malvarrosa is designed to reduce disruption to daytime traffic in the residential Magisterial neighborhood.
Magisterial sits in the urban core of San José del Cabo, the quieter of the two main towns in the Los Cabos municipality. The neighborhood serves as a route for commuters and residents heading toward schools and commercial areas in the city center.
Broader Road Repair Efforts in Los Cabos
The Cazabaches program is the latest in a series of road repair initiatives across the municipality. In September 2025, the Los Cabos Director General of Public Works, Christopher Enríquez, launched a separate pothole patching campaign along the Transpeninsular Highway. That project started in the El Rosarito neighborhood and extended north toward Guaymitas and the San José del Cabo airport.
Road conditions across Los Cabos have been a persistent concern for residents and drivers. Tropical storms and heavy rains during the annual hurricane season, which runs from May through November, often leave streets pocked with new damage. The municipality’s decision to run crews around the clock is a response to the volume of complaints filed by residents.
What Drivers Should Know
Drivers traveling through the Magisterial neighborhood should expect construction activity on Calle Malvarrosa during evening and nighttime hours. The city government has asked residents for patience while crews complete the work. Residents can report potholes and road damage to the municipal Public Works department to have their street added to the Cazabaches rotation.
