The Cabo San Lucas municipal delegation announced plans to open a rehabilitation center exclusively for women in the Cabo Fierro neighborhood by the end of May. Delegate Karina de la O Uribe confirmed the project during a visit to an existing addiction recovery facility in the Leonardo Gastélum neighborhood on May 7.

The new center has the backing of Los Cabos Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez. It will be separate from the CRAADYR No. 11 facility, which currently operates as a mixed-gender rehabilitation center in the Gastélum area. CRAADYR stands for Centro de Rehabilitación de Adicciones y Alcoholismo y Desintoxicación y Recuperación.

Food Donations to Existing Center

During the visit, delegation staff delivered food supplies to CRAADYR No. 11, including canned goods, milk, soft drinks, and other non-perishable items. The donation was part of the delegation’s ongoing community outreach program in Cabo San Lucas.

The Gastélum neighborhood, located in the hillside colonias west of downtown Cabo San Lucas, has long been one of the city’s lower-income areas. It is also where the nonprofit Ave Fénix organization has previously sought to establish addiction recovery services, according to earlier local reports.

Growing Need in Los Cabos

Los Cabos has experienced rapid population growth driven by tourism and construction. That growth has brought social pressures to working-class neighborhoods, including rising substance abuse. A women-only facility would address a gap in local recovery services, since the existing CRAADYR center houses both men and women.

The Cabo Fierro neighborhood sits in the expanding residential zones north of central Cabo San Lucas. No details were provided about the new center’s capacity, staffing, or funding sources beyond municipal support.

De la O Uribe did not specify an exact opening date, saying only that the facility would be ready by late May. The announcement was first reported by Colectivo Pericú.
