Authorities in Puerto San Carlos are investigating the violent death of an elderly man after neighbors discovered his body inside a residential home on Sunday, March 15. Municipal security personnel arrived at the scene around 12:35 p.m. following reports from neighbors.
The victim showed visible signs of violence, according to Colectivo Pericú. Municipal security and transit officers secured the scene while investigators worked the area.
The Fiscalía General del Estado, Baja California Sur’s state prosecutor’s office, opened a formal homicide investigation. Forensic teams collected evidence at the residence, and the case has been assigned to the prosecutor’s specialized homicide unit.
Puerto San Carlos sits on the Pacific coast of the Comondú municipality, roughly 230 kilometers from La Paz. The town is known primarily as a whale-watching destination during gray whale season. No suspect information has been made public as of Sunday evening.
