Tijuana’s annual March for Jesus will wind through the city’s Zona Centro on Friday, May 16, starting at 4 p.m. at Parque Teniente Guerrero. The Alianza Ministerial Evangélica A.C. (AME), an evangelical ministerial alliance, announced the event on May 8.
The march will begin at the corner of Díaz Mirón and Calle Cuarta, at the park located at 7428 Calle Carrillo Puerto. From there, participants will walk to Calle Niños Héroes, then up to Calle Ocho before heading to Avenida Francisco I. Madero. The procession will continue along Calle 10 in a straight line to City Hall on Paseo Centenario.
Route Ends at CREA Sports Complex
After passing City Hall, the march will conclude at the Unidad Deportiva CREA, home of the Instituto Municipal del Deporte de Tijuana (IMDET), the city’s municipal sports institute. A free family concert will close out the evening. The event is scheduled to run until approximately 9 p.m.
David Vázquez, one of the organizers, described the march’s purpose in the announcement. He said the event aims to send a message that Tijuana recognizes Jesus Christ as king and that the procession carries a spiritual purpose beyond the closing concert.
Annual Event Draws Over 150 Churches
The March for Jesus is an annual tradition in Tijuana. During the 2024 edition, coordinator Juan Simón told Semanario Zeta that more than 150 churches of different denominations participate each year. That event followed a similar route through Zona Centro and included a stop at City Hall for a prayer for government leaders.
Anyone in central Tijuana on the afternoon of May 16 should expect heavy foot traffic and possible street closures along the route, particularly on Calle Cuarta, Calle Niños Héroes, Calle Ocho, and Paseo Centenario. The event’s Facebook page, Marcha para Jesús Tijuana, has more than 5,700 followers and posts route updates.
