Tijuana’s Municipal Sports Institute (IMDET) will hold the third stage of the 2026 Delegational Athletic Series on Saturday, May 9, with the starting gun set for 7:15 a.m. The free community race will begin and end near the La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez delegation office in eastern Tijuana.

A Rotating Series Across Tijuana’s Neighborhoods

The Serial Atlético Delegacional is a city-organized running series that rotates through Tijuana’s nine administrative delegations over the course of the year. Each stage is hosted in a different delegation, giving runners a chance to explore different parts of the city on foot. The first two stages of the 2026 series took place earlier this year in other delegations.

La Presa, the host neighborhood for this third stage, sits in the southeastern part of Tijuana near the Abelardo L. Rodríguez Dam. The area is mostly residential and sits at a higher elevation than the city center, which could mean a hillier course for participants.

What Runners Need to Know

IMDET organizes the series to promote physical activity and community engagement across Tijuana’s delegations. The event is free and open to the public. Registration details have not yet been confirmed publicly, but past editions of the series have allowed same-day sign-ups at the start line.

Runners should arrive before 7:15 a.m. to check in. The early start time is typical for Tijuana running events, designed to beat the midday heat. Participants in previous stages have included casual joggers, families, and competitive local runners.

The series is expected to continue through additional delegations in the months ahead, though IMDET has not yet published the full 2026 calendar. Runners interested in future stages can follow IMDET’s social media channels for updates.
