Four nationally known Mexican rock acts will perform free concerts at Parque Revolución in La Paz on May 16 and 17, part of the Rock Fundacion 2026 festival celebrating the city’s 491st founding anniversary. DLD and Allison take the stage Saturday, May 16. Resorte and Jumbo follow on Sunday, May 17. All shows are free and open to all ages.

The festival is shaping up as one of the biggest free public music events La Paz has hosted in years. For residents and visitors who enjoy live music but may not know the Mexican rock scene well, here is what the lineup offers and what to expect that weekend.

Rock Fundacion La Paz 2026 Lineup: Four Bands Across Two Nights

DLD formed in the State of Mexico in November 1998 and became one of the defining acts of Mexico’s early-2000s alternative rock wave. The band’s sound blends melodic rock with electronic textures. Their best-known tracks include “Todo Cuenta,” “Arsénico,” and “Hasta Siempre,” all staples on Mexican rock radio for over two decades. DLD has shared festival stages with acts like Café Tacvba and Zoé, and the group remains active on Mexico’s touring circuit.

Allison, also performing May 16, emerged from Mexico City in 2002 and built a large following in the pop-punk and emo-influenced rock scene. Their breakout single “Aquí” became an anthem for a generation of Mexican teenagers, and the band has released seven studio albums. Allison’s energetic live shows draw crowds that skew younger, so expect a packed park on Saturday night.

Resorte, scheduled for May 17, is a ska-punk band from Guadalajara that has been performing since 1994. They are known for a high-energy stage presence and songs like “Hoy” and “Tan Diferente” that fuse brass sections with punk guitar riffs. Resorte is a regular at Mexican festivals and has a loyal following across the country’s ska and punk scenes.

Jumbo, also on the May 17 bill, hails from Monterrey and has been active since 1997. The band plays a style that mixes power pop, funk, and alternative rock. Their hit “Siento Que” received heavy rotation on MTV Latin America, and their 2003 album “D.D.” earned them a devoted audience. Jumbo reunited in recent years after a hiatus and has been touring again across Mexico.

La Paz’s 491st Anniversary and the Open Call for Local Bands

La Paz traces its founding to 1535, when Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés established a short-lived settlement on the bay. The city formally celebrates its founding each May, and municipal authorities organize concerts, cultural events, and civic ceremonies throughout the month. Rock Fundacion fits into this tradition, combining national touring acts with local talent.

The La Paz Municipal Culture Department has issued an open call for local bands to join the festival lineup. There is one strict requirement: all acts must perform original music. Covers and tribute sets are not eligible. This requirement reflects an effort to spotlight Baja California Sur’s growing original music scene rather than relying solely on national headliners.

Local bands interested in applying should contact the Municipal Culture Department directly. The deadline and application details have not yet been published widely, so musicians in the area should check with the department soon.

Parque Revolución: The Festival Venue in Downtown La Paz

Parque Revolución sits in the heart of downtown La Paz, roughly four blocks west of the malecón. The park has hosted public concerts and civic events for decades and is one of the city’s most recognizable gathering spaces. Its central location means restaurants, bars, and shops along Calle 5 de Mayo and the surrounding streets will be within walking distance.

Because the concerts are free and all-ages, crowds could be substantial on both nights. Parking near the park is limited under normal conditions. Visitors staying in the hotel zone along the malecón can walk to the venue in about 15 minutes. Those driving from the outskirts or from communities like El Centenario should plan to arrive early or use taxi services.

No specific set times have been announced yet. Past editions of city-sponsored concerts at Parque Revolución have typically started in the early evening, around 7 p.m., but the Municipal Culture Department has not confirmed a schedule for this year’s festival.

Rock Fundacion 2026 takes place May 16 and 17 at Parque Revolución in downtown La Paz, with free admission both nights. Additional lineup details and set times are expected from the Municipal Culture Department in the coming days. This story was first reported by BCS Noticias.
