Porter Airlines and Air Transat will launch four new nonstop routes from Canada to Los Cabos beginning in November, giving Canadian travelers direct access from Toronto, Edmonton, Ottawa, and Montreal for the 2026-2027 winter season.
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca) announced the expansion, which starts Nov. 16, 2026, when Porter Airlines begins service from Toronto three times a week and from Edmonton four times a week. Porter will also add Ottawa flights twice a week starting Dec. 18.
Air Transat will introduce a once-a-week flight from Montreal beginning Dec. 10. Together, the four routes represent the largest single-season increase in Canadian air capacity to Los Cabos in recent memory.
Canada Is Los Cabos’ Second-Largest Market
Canada ranks as Los Cabos’ second-largest international tourism market after the United States. Fiturca reported 20% growth in the Canadian market, a figure that drove airlines to commit new capacity. Rodrigo Esponda, CEO of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, said the increased connectivity positions the region for “a historic year for tourism from the Canadian market.”
Ottawa and Edmonton have not traditionally had direct flights to Los Cabos. Travelers from those cities previously had to connect through Toronto or other hubs, adding hours and cost to what is roughly a five-hour flight.
Delta Pulls Back From Seattle Routes
The Canadian expansion comes as Delta Air Lines recently suspended its Seattle-Tacoma routes to Los Cabos, Cancún, and Puerto Vallarta. Delta cited higher fuel costs linked to the Iran conflict as the reason for the cuts. The Seattle suspension removes a Pacific Northwest gateway, though the volume of new Canadian flights more than replaces the lost seats.
Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), located in San José del Cabo, already handles direct service from multiple Canadian cities during winter months. Air Canada and WestJet have operated seasonal routes for years. The addition of Porter and Air Transat broadens the carrier mix and could push fares lower through increased competition.
Fare details and booking dates for the new routes have not yet been announced. Travelers planning winter trips should monitor airline websites as departure dates approach. This story was first reported by The Cabo Post.
