The World Wide Technology Championship will return to Los Cabos for the 2026 season, with the official PGA Tour event scheduled for November 2 through 8 at El Cardonal Golf Club inside the Diamante resort complex in Cabo San Lucas.
Abril Urueta Martínez, the municipality’s Economic Development director, announced the tournament dates. The event is expected to draw more than 120 professional golfers to compete on the Tiger Woods-designed course along the Pacific coast.
An 18-Year Tournament With Deep Roots in Mexico
The WWT Championship is Mexico’s longest-running PGA Tour event, with 18 years of history. The tournament moved to El Cardonal at Diamante in 2023, when South African golfer Erik van Rooyen won the inaugural edition at the course with a final-round 63, taking home $1.46 million. Austin Eckroat claimed the 2024 title for his second PGA Tour win that season.
El Cardonal was the first golf course ever designed by Tiger Woods, who holds 82 career PGA Tour victories and 15 major titles. The course sits within Diamante, a private resort and residential development on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas.
What to Expect During Tournament Week
The 2025 edition, scheduled for November 7 through 10, will feature VIP hospitality, a food and art festival, Pro-Am events, live music, wellness programming, and kids’ activities. The 2026 tournament is likely to follow a similar format. PGA Tour coverage reaches over 220 countries in 26 languages through 44 broadcast and digital partners.
Past editions have attracted top-tier talent. The 2025 field includes players ranked as high as sixth and eleventh in the world, along with former Ryder Cup participants. The winner earns a two-year PGA Tour exemption, 500 FedExCup points, and entry into marquee events like The Sentry and The Players Championship.
Impact on Hotels and Travel in Los Cabos
The first week of November in Los Cabos coincides with the tail end of hurricane season and the start of the peak winter tourism stretch. Visitors planning trips to the area during November 2 through 8, 2026 should anticipate higher hotel rates and limited availability, particularly at properties near Diamante on the Pacific corridor.
The tournament announcement was reported by the Los Cabos municipal government at loscabos.gob.mx.
