The Orígenes artisan market takes over Amelia Wilkes Ceseña Plaza in downtown Cabo San Lucas every Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., offering handcrafted goods, regional food, live music, and family activities. The weekly event is organized through the municipal government’s Business Development office and focuses exclusively on locally made products.

“We invite everyone to visit us on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Here, you can find crafts, food, drinks and handmade products created by local entrepreneurs,” said Jazmín Miranda, coordinator of Business Development, according to the Gringo Gazette.

What Vendors Sell at Orígenes

The market stands apart from typical tourist shopping by requiring that all products be completely handmade and artisanal. Vendors sell items including native-plant soaps, artisanal kombucha, freshly baked bread, and traditional aguas frescas. The emphasis is on independent producers and small entrepreneurs from the Los Cabos area.

Live music and dancing round out the atmosphere. The market is designed as a family-friendly gathering, with cultural performances and activities for children.

Where to Find the Market

Amelia Wilkes Ceseña Plaza sits in the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas, making it walkable from most central hotels and neighborhoods. The plaza includes several gazebos and sits near the city museum, a well-known landmark for residents and visitors. No admission fee is charged to browse the market.

Orígenes is a recurring weekly fixture, not a seasonal or one-time event. It runs year-round on Friday evenings, which makes it a reliable option for anyone in town at the end of the work week.

Other Local Markets in Los Cabos

The Orígenes market joins a growing roster of community markets across Los Cabos. Casa Nanda in western Cabo San Lucas hosts a weekend market on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The San José Organic Market, the largest organic farmers market in Los Cabos, operates on Saturdays starting at 9 a.m. off Calle Centenario in San José del Cabo. The Cabo Organic Market at Pedregal is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
