The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) sent a 12-partner delegation to IMEX Frankfurt, Europe’s leading trade show for meetings and events, from May 19 to 21. The team conducted 260 business meetings, delivered 11 group presentations, and generated 130 requests for proposals from international event planners during the three-day event.
The delegation reached more than 450 planners in total, according to FITURCA. Rodrigo Esponda, the trust’s general director, said the push is part of a broader strategy to expand Los Cabos’ presence in European markets beyond the destination’s traditional North American base.
Condor Airlines Route Takes Center Stage
A central piece of the Frankfurt pitch was the direct Condor Airlines route connecting Frankfurt Airport to Los Cabos International Airport (SJD). Condor launched the nonstop service in November 2024, making it the first scheduled European carrier to fly to western Mexico. The airline set up a business-class cabin display inside the Los Cabos booth at the trade show.
Esponda told Aviation Week earlier this year that the Frankfurt route has generated interest not just from Germany but also from Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Los Cabos is now connected to 42 international airports, including 32 U.S. cities.
Hotels, DMCs, and Experience Providers in the Delegation
The 12 partners who traveled to Frankfurt included destination management companies Connect, In Cabo, Native Trails, and Destination México. Hotel brands in the group were Fiesta Americana, Viceroy, Hyatt Ziva, and Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, along with Krystal Grand. Experience providers Cactus and The Main Event also attended, as did the Los Cabos Hotel Association.
FITURCA also participated in the inaugural Maritz Global DMO Exchange at the event. The Los Cabos booth earned a Better Stands Bronze distinction for sustainable design.
Meetings Tourism and the Bigger Picture
The European push fits into a larger pattern. Los Cabos recorded more than 3.76 million air passenger arrivals in 2024 and welcomed over 1.38 million international tourists in the first quarter of 2025 alone. Tourism supports roughly two out of every three jobs in the region and injects approximately $7.7 billion into the local economy. The average daily hotel rate in Los Cabos sits at $440 USD, the highest in Mexico.
This was FITURCA’s fifth consecutive year exhibiting at IMEX Frankfurt, as reported by Gringo Gazette.
