The Los Cabos Institute of Culture and Arts (ICA) is calling on children up to age 11 to perform at FAPI 2026, the second annual Festival de Artes para las Infancias (Children’s Arts Festival), running May 14 through 17 in San José del Cabo.
The festival opens May 14 at Plaza Antonio Mijares, the central square in downtown San José del Cabo near the mission church. Children can register for a talent showcase featuring dance, theater, singing, or poetry, with each performance lasting 5 to 10 minutes. The municipality will provide sound, lighting, and logistical support at the plaza.
Art Workshops and Collective Exhibition
FAPI 2026 extends beyond the stage. The ICA and the Jardín del Arte have also launched a separate call titled “Sábados de Xpresarte, Especial Infancias,” inviting children to participate in visual arts workshops. Works created during those sessions will be displayed in a collective children’s exhibition on May 14 as part of the regular “Jueves de Arte” (Art Thursdays) program.
The festival’s overall theme this year is “Un faro de colores sobre un mar de alegría” (A lighthouse of colors over a sea of joy). This is the event’s second edition, building on the inaugural FAPI held in 2025.
How to Register
Registration is free and open now. Parents or guardians can sign up a child by emailing convocatoriasica2026@gmail.com or calling (624) 123-2711. They will need to provide the child’s name, age, a phone number, and the planned activity (dance, theater, singing, or poetry).
Plaza Antonio Mijares sits at the heart of San José del Cabo’s historic center, just steps from the Art District along Calle Obregón. The square regularly hosts public events, including the weekly Art Walk held every Thursday evening from November through June.
The festival is free and open to the public. Full details are available on the Los Cabos municipal government website at loscabos.gob.mx.
