La Paz will host a free two-day rock festival this weekend at Parque Revolución, celebrating the city’s 491st founding anniversary. Festival Rock Fundación 2026 runs Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, with doors opening at 5 p.m. and live music starting at 5:30 p.m. each day.

Mayor Milena Quiroga Romero announced the event, which pairs local La Paz bands with nationally known Mexican rock acts. Admission is free on both days, and the city will deploy a security and civil protection operation throughout the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday Lineups

Saturday’s lineup opens with local groups Insomnia, No Somos Nada, Child.exe, and Divided. The evening headliners are Allison and DLD, two well-known acts on Mexico’s national rock circuit. DLD, formed in Mexico City in the late 1990s, is known for hits like “Todo Cuenta” and “Más y Más.”

Sunday features La Paz bands Podrido Por Dentro, Don Cardón, Divier, and The Why’s. Closing out the festival are Resorte and Jumbo. Jumbo, the Monterrey-based band behind “Siento Que,” has been a fixture in Mexican alternative rock for over two decades.

Showcasing Local Talent

City culture director Juan Lara Guzmán said the festival is designed to develop local musical talent by placing homegrown bands on the same stage as established national acts. Last year’s edition, marking La Paz’s 490th anniversary, followed a similar format with rock performances at the same park.

Parque Revolución sits in central La Paz at the intersection of Félix Ortega and Antonio Rosales streets, a couple of blocks from Baja Ferries’ offices. The park is easily accessible on foot from the malecón and the downtown commercial district.

A City With Deep Roots

La Paz traces its founding to 1535, when Spanish explorer Hernán Cortés landed on the shores of what is now Baja California Sur. The annual Fiestas de Fundación celebrations have varied over the years, ranging from single-day events to month-long programs. This year, the city chose to center the anniversary around rock music rather than a traditional multi-event calendar.

The festival is an outdoor, family-accessible event with no ticket required. Originally reported by the La Paz municipal government news portal.
