A free community event featuring live hip hop and regional Mexican music will take place in Cabo San Lucas on Saturday, May 2, starting at 6 p.m. in the Lomas del Faro Viejo neighborhood.

The event, called “Wraps & Raps,” marks the first anniversary of ChoyeWraps, a local eatery in the residential colonia. The Cabo San Lucas municipal delegation and the XV Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos (the current Los Cabos city council) are officially backing the gathering.

Live Music From Across Baja California Sur

The lineup includes hip hop and sierreño-norteño acts from Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, and La Paz. Sierreño-norteño is a regional Mexican genre rooted in mountain and northern traditions, popular across Baja California Sur. Food vendors will also be on site.

Cabo San Lucas delegate Karina de la O Uribe announced the municipal government’s support for the event. De la O Uribe framed it as part of a broader effort to support local entrepreneurs and strengthen community ties in Cabo’s residential neighborhoods.

A Neighborhood Event, Not a Tourist Zone Party

Lomas del Faro Viejo sits outside the main tourist corridor, in the hills above central Cabo San Lucas. The colonia is a working-class residential area, making this event more of a local block party than a marina-district attraction. For expats living in Cabo’s residential neighborhoods, the event offers a rare chance to catch live local music without heading downtown.

Admission is free. The event is described as family-friendly and open to the public.

The May 2 date places it the night before many Cinco de Mayo weekend celebrations begin across Los Cabos, when restaurants and resorts typically host their own holiday programming.
