The Carlos Olachea Boucsiéguez Art Gallery in La Paz will open “Caminos a La Paz,” a free exhibition of paintings and sculptures by local artist Paulino Pérez, on Friday, June 5 at 8 p.m. The show will remain on display through the end of June.
Pérez, a La Paz resident, draws on the marine landscapes of Baja California Sur as the central theme of the exhibition. His work explores the coastlines, sea life, and natural environments that define the southern peninsula.
Marine Biologist Turned Artist
Pérez holds a marine biology degree from UABCS (Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur) with a specialty in shark research. That scientific background informs his artistic focus on the Sea of Cortez and its surrounding landscapes.
He has trained under several recognized artists, including José Fors and Martha Pacheco. Fors is a Guadalajara-based multimedia artist known for experimental music and visual art. Pacheco, also from Guadalajara, is recognized for her figurative painting and has exhibited widely in Mexico and abroad.
