The sixth annual Tarde de Arte Pacífica returns to Pacífica at Ensenada Bay on July 25, combining an Ensenada art auction in 2026 with Guadalupe Valley wine tastings and regional cuisine to raise money for women fighting breast cancer in Baja California. This year’s fundraising goal is 400,000 pesos (roughly $20,000 USD), with all proceeds going to Fundación Mujeres que Viven A.C., a nonprofit that has spent six years building a support network for cancer patients across the state.

The auction begins at 1 p.m. and features more than 75 works. Paintings, prints, ceramic sculptures, and giclée pieces come from artists in Ensenada, Tijuana, Mexicali, Bahía de los Ángeles, and San Diego. Starting bids open at about $90 USD, and telephone or written bids are accepted for those who cannot attend.

Six Years of Funding Chemotherapy, Housing, and Reconstruction

Fundación Mujeres que Viven A.C. was founded to fill gaps in public healthcare for breast cancer patients in Baja California. The organization, led by Ana Lucía Murillo Villalobos, funds chemotherapy treatments, mastectomies, breast reconstruction surgeries, mammograms, oncology wigs, and psychological counseling. It also operates temporary housing in Mexicali for women who must travel for treatment.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among Mexican women, and Baja California’s public hospitals often face long wait times for oncology services. IMSS, Mexico’s social security health system, covers many treatments, but patients without formal employment or those needing faster care frequently turn to nonprofits like Fundación Mujeres que Viven for help covering costs at private clinics.

The foundation also partners with schools, businesses, and public agencies to run early detection campaigns. These programs bring medical professionals and survivors together for educational talks in communities across the state. Early detection rates in Mexico remain lower than in the United States, so these campaigns focus on promoting regular mammograms for women over 40.

Tarde de Arte Pacífica has grown into the foundation’s largest annual fundraiser since its first edition in 2021. Each year, local artists donate their work to be auctioned, and Baja California’s wine and food industries contribute tastings at no cost to the foundation. The model keeps overhead low and channels ticket and auction revenue directly to patient services.

Guadalupe Valley Wineries and Regional Chefs at the Event

Six wineries from the Guadalupe Valley will pour throughout the afternoon. The lineup includes Bodegas Santo Tomás, one of the oldest wineries in Mexico with roots dating to 1888, along with Villa Montefiori, Cava Valentina, Quinta Monasterio, Las Nubes, and Madera 5. Cervecería Cardera will offer craft beer for those who prefer it.

On the food side, seven restaurant teams will prepare tasting portions. Surgencia at Viñedo Don Tomás, D’Lachi Laboratori Di Pasta, Ruah Cocina y Vino, Mihle, Culinary Art Design, Cocinas y Productores de San Felipe, and Restaurante Matilde are all participating. Artisan vendors will sell handcrafted fashion accessories, charcuterie boards, cheeses, and desserts as well.

Ensenada artist Jaime Delfín curated this year’s exhibition. Auctioneer Gerardo Méndez will run the bidding in traditional English auction format, where prices climb until only one bidder remains. Young painters will also create landscape works live during the event, working against the backdrop of the Ensenada coastline at the Pacífica venue.

Admission costs 1,500 pesos (about $75 USD). Each ticket includes a commemorative wine glass, food tastings, wine tastings, access to the full auction, and live music by Delion Ensamble Musical. Wine bottles are also available for purchase during the event.
