The Los Cabos municipal government will stage a series of free public concerts in Cabo San Lucas this June, featuring regional and national Mexican artists performing across multiple genres. Los Cabos Has Expanded Free Cultural Programming Since 2023
Free concert series in Los Cabos are not new, but the scale of this year’s program marks an expansion. The municipal Dirección de Cultura (cultural affairs office) organized smaller weekend events through 2023 and 2024, typically one or two performances per month in Plaza Amelia Wilkes, the main public square in downtown Cabo San Lucas. This June’s series adds four dates and moves some performances to larger venues, including the marina boardwalk area near the Cabo San Lucas harbor. The shift to the marina zone puts the concerts in closer proximity to the hotel and restaurant district, where both tourists and local workers gather in the evenings.
June is traditionally a slow month for Los Cabos tourism. Hotel occupancy in June 2024 averaged around 55%, compared to peaks above 80% during the winter high season. The municipal government has framed the concert series as part of a broader effort to support local businesses during the low season by drawing foot traffic to commercial areas.
Four Dates Scheduled Across Cabo San Lucas Venues
The Noches de Estrella series includes four concerts scheduled for June 7, 14, 21, and 28, all on Saturday evenings starting at 8 p.m. The June 7 and 21 shows will take place at Plaza Amelia Wilkes. The June 14 and 28 performances will be held along the marina boardwalk near the main harbor.
The lineup includes regional banda and norteño acts alongside pop and rock en español performers. Road closures are expected around Plaza Amelia Wilkes on concert nights. The streets surrounding the plaza, including Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas between Calle Zaragoza and Calle Hidalgo, will likely close to vehicle traffic from 6 p.m. to midnight. The municipal transit office has not yet published an official detour map, but in past events, traffic was rerouted along Calle Morelos.

The Los Cabos municipal budget for cultural programming grew by approximately 18% between 2022 and 2024. That increase tracked closely with rising tourism revenue: the municipality collected an estimated 1.2 billion pesos (roughly $70 million USD) in hotel tax revenue in 2024, a figure that funds infrastructure and public programs alike.
Part of the expansion reflects pressure from the local hospitality industry, which has pushed the government to create more reasons for tourists to spend time (and money) outside their all-inclusive resorts. Free concerts in public spaces serve that goal by drawing visitors into areas where local restaurants, shops, and vendors operate.
The strategy also responds to a growing resident population. Los Cabos added an estimated 30,000 residents between the 2020 and 2023 census updates, many of them workers in the tourism and construction sectors.
