The Instituto Sudcaliforniano de Cultura (ISC), Baja California Sur’s state cultural institute, is accepting registrations for a free virtual course designed to train people who work with children in the arts. The course, called “Arte en los Primeros Años” (Art in the Early Years), begins May 7 and runs through June 25.

The ISC is organizing the program in coordination with Mexico’s federal Secretaría de Cultura and the Alas y Raíces Baja California Sur program, a national initiative focused on children’s cultural development. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m., totaling 15 sessions and 45 hours of training.

Who the Course Is For

The program targets cultural managers, arts promoters, and artists who run child-focused projects across Baja California Sur. Anyone involved in youth arts programming in the state, whether through schools, community centers, or independent projects, is eligible to apply.

Because the course is fully virtual, participants can join from anywhere in the state, from La Paz and Los Cabos to Loreto, Comondú, or Mulegé. The virtual format also means no travel costs for participants in more remote areas of the peninsula.

How to Register

Registration is open now at goo.su/vLpbP8H. The ISC has warned that spaces are limited and did not specify an enrollment cap. Those with questions can email bcs.alasyraices@gmail.com or contact the ISC through its social media channels.

The Alas y Raíces program operates in every Mexican state and focuses on connecting children with artistic and cultural experiences. In Baja California Sur, the program has previously organized workshops, festivals, and training events tied to early childhood arts education.
