Tijuana municipal police arrested Miguel Ángel, known as “El Miki,” on June 8 in the Altiplano neighborhood in eastern Tijuana. Authorities say he faces three separate arrest warrants for homicides committed between March and November 2025.

Police describe El Miki as a “violence generator” with ties to street-level drug dealing and targeted killings. Officers transferred him to the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE), Baja California’s State Attorney General’s Office, for formal arraignment on all three murder charges.

Three Killings Across Eastern Tijuana

The arrest warrants cover a brutal string of violence spanning roughly eight months. In one case, El Miki allegedly stabbed a victim and then set the body on fire in the Colonia del Carmen area. In a separate incident in November 2025, a shooting on Boulevard 2000 near Colonia Real de San Francisco killed a 27-year-old man.

Details on the third homicide were not specified in the police report, though all three cases originated in eastern Tijuana neighborhoods. The killings took place in residential zones far from the Zona Norte or Avenida Revolución tourist corridors.

Targeted Violence Tied to Drug Trade

Authorities classified the killings as targeted acts connected to local narco-retail operations rather than random violence. Street-level drug dealing in Tijuana’s eastern colonias has driven much of the city’s homicide count in recent years, with rival groups competing for territory in neighborhoods like Altiplano, Sánchez Taboada, and Mariano Matamoros.

The arrest comes as Tijuana municipal police continue operations against individuals flagged on outstanding warrants. Eastern Tijuana, which stretches from the Alamar River corridor toward Tecate, has been a persistent hot spot for drug-related violence. These neighborhoods sit well east of the border crossing and the commercial districts most frequented by visitors.

El Miki’s capture on three separate homicide warrants is notable because it represents a consolidation of cases against a single suspect. Baja California’s FGE will now proceed with arraignment hearings on each charge individually.
