Baja California’s Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) published a wanted notice on Wednesday for Daniel Alejandro Peña González, 19, who faces an arrest warrant for the aggravated feminicide of his ex-girlfriend Destiny Cervantes Guillén. The 18-year-old was shot in the head outside her home in Tijuana’s Lomas Taurinas neighborhood on May 9, 2025, nearly a year ago.

Destiny had just returned from a shift at an Amazon warehouse in the Otay area when she was killed. According to evidence gathered by the FGE, the couple had been in a three-year relationship that ended one week before the murder due to a pattern of physical and psychological violence. Testimony collected by prosecutors indicated Daniel Alejandro controlled her friendships, monitored who she spent time with, and threatened her with intimate images.

Cousin Already Charged as Co-Author

Daniel Alejandro’s cousin, Coral Esmeralda, has already been detained and charged as a co-author of the feminicide. Prosecutors say she drove the getaway vehicle used the night of the killing. Daniel Alejandro remains a fugitive despite multiple raids across Tijuana over the past 11 months.

The suspect reportedly filed an amparo lawsuit (case 420/2025) challenging the arrest warrant issued by a criminal court judge in Tijuana. That legal maneuver has not stopped the FGE from escalating its search to a national level.

Family Has Fought for Justice Since May 2025

Destiny’s family has publicly campaigned for his capture since the killing. On May 24, 2025, relatives and friends protested at Tijuana’s Municipal Palace demanding answers. By July 2025, her sister Johana Griego told reporters the suspect remained dangerous and free. In October 2025, her older sister Anette Rubio Guillén spoke publicly about the emotional toll of the case.

The FGE described Daniel Alejandro as slim, dark-skinned, and approximately 1.75 meters (5 feet 9 inches) tall. He has no beard or mustache and has Roman numeral tattoos on his left forearm.

How to Report Information

Authorities urged anyone with information to call 911, the anonymous tip line at 089, or the FGE directly at (664) 399-3094. The agency asked the public not to attempt to detain the suspect themselves.

Destiny’s case was one of at least six feminicides recorded in Tijuana during the first months of 2025, accounting for nearly half of the 13 cases statewide at that time, according to earlier FGE data reported by Punto Norte and Semanario ZETA.
