An unidentified voice broke into the internal walkie-talkie frequency at Secundaria Técnica No. 43 in Ensenada on Wednesday, April 23, threatening a shooting at the campus. The school’s assistant principal reported the incident after hearing the unfamiliar voice announce an attack over the radio system used by administrative staff and maintenance workers.

Municipal police responded to the school in Colonia Artesanal after the administration called 911 and activated a security protocol. No shooting occurred, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have not identified the person behind the transmission.

Part of a Growing Wave of School Threats

The incident is the latest in a string of threats targeting schools across Baja California in recent weeks. One of the most widely reported cases involved a student who used TikTok to threaten teachers and students at Escuela Secundaria Diurna No. 2, also in Ensenada. Similar threat waves have been reported in municipalities across Baja California and Baja California Sur.

Ensenada authorities say they are treating each report seriously and deploying police to affected campuses. So far, none of the recent threats have resulted in actual violence.

What Happened at the School

According to reporting from El Imparcial and Ensenada.net, the threat came through during the morning on a radio frequency reserved for internal communication between school personnel. The voice was not recognized by staff members, raising questions about how someone gained access to the frequency. Walkie-talkies operating on shared or unsecured radio channels can be intercepted by anyone with a compatible device.

Colonia Artesanal sits in the eastern part of Ensenada, roughly 10 minutes from the city center. Residents near the school may notice an increased police presence in the coming days as authorities investigate.

Authorities Urge Calm

Officials across Baja California have urged parents and communities not to panic but to report any suspicious communications immediately through 911. The pattern of copycat threats, many linked to social media posts, has put schools and law enforcement on high alert throughout the peninsula.
