Central Tijuana Neighborhood Near Downtown

Colonia Postal sits in central Tijuana, roughly a mile south of the San Ysidro border crossing. The neighborhood is a residential area with a mix of homes and small businesses along its grid of numbered streets.

The shooting adds to a pattern of targeted violence inside residences across Tijuana. The city recorded more than 1,000 homicides in 2025, and gun violence in residential areas remains one of the most persistent public safety concerns in the municipality.

Tijuana’s Policía Municipal secured the scene on Calle Guanajuatense while state investigators began processing evidence. No additional details about the circumstances, including whether the shooter entered the home or how many rounds were fired, had been made public.
