Firefighters responding to a blaze at a property on Calle Galeana in upper Maneadero on Friday evening discovered the charred body of a man inside. The fire was reported around 6:00 p.m. and appeared to be intentionally set, according to local authorities in Ensenada.
The victim has not been publicly identified. Investigators arrived to find the structure engulfed in flames, and the body was located once firefighters brought the blaze under control.
Same Property Linked to March Quadruple Homicide
The discovery is especially alarming because it occurred at the same address where four people were killed on March 18 in what authorities classified as a mass murder. The day after those killings, the property was also set on fire. No arrests in the March case have been publicly announced.
The repetition of lethal violence and arson at a single location points to an unresolved conflict in the area. Maneadero sits along the Transpeninsular Highway (Mexico 1), roughly 15 miles south of downtown Ensenada. The agricultural community serves as a transit point for travelers heading to the popular tourist destination of La Bufadora and points farther south on the peninsula.
Rising Violence in the Maneadero Area
Friday’s killing adds to a pattern of serious crime in and around Maneadero in recent months. In August, a man was found executed in an arroyo near Maneadero close to the road leading to La Bufadora, with cartridge casings recovered at the scene. The broader Ensenada municipality has experienced periodic spikes in homicides linked to organized crime activity.
Authorities have not released details about possible suspects or a motive in Friday’s case. It remains unclear whether the victim had any connection to the four people killed at the same property in March.
The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE), Baja California’s state attorney general’s office, is expected to lead the investigation. Residents in the upper Maneadero area have reported feeling uneasy about the repeated incidents at the same address.
