A judge in La Paz formally charged a man from Mexico City with corruption of minors on May 26 after he allegedly traveled more than 1,500 kilometers to meet a teenage boy he had contacted through the online gaming platform Roblox.
Municipal police arrested Luis Ángel “N” near a soccer field in the Valle del Mezquite neighborhood on May 23. Officers intercepted him before any physical meeting with the minor took place. A judge ordered preventive detention the same day prosecutors presented their case.
Contact Began on Roblox in December
Prosecutors from a specialized unit handling crimes against sexual liberty and the family told the court that the suspect first contacted the teenage victim through Roblox in December 2025. During subsequent communication, the man allegedly induced the minor via video call to engage in age-inappropriate conduct.
Roblox is a free online gaming platform popular with children and teenagers worldwide. The platform allows users to create and play games together, and it includes chat and messaging features that can be used to contact other players directly.
Same-Day Arrest Warrant Issued
After the minor’s family reported the situation to authorities, prosecutors secured an arrest warrant the same day. Municipal police in La Paz then located and detained the suspect in Valle del Mezquite, a residential area on the city’s southern edge.
On May 26, a judge formally bound Luis Ángel “N” to process on corruption of minors charges. He will remain in preventive detention while the investigation continues. Under Mexican law, the “N” designation is used in place of a suspect’s surname to protect due process rights before a conviction.
What Parents in Baja Should Know
The case is a concrete example of how online gaming platforms can be used to target minors across state lines. Roblox has parental controls that allow guardians to restrict chat features, limit who can send messages, and monitor account activity. Parents can access these settings through the platform’s “Privacy” tab under account settings.
BCS state prosecutors have stated that crimes against minors involving digital platforms are being actively investigated and prosecuted. The specialized unit that handled this case focuses specifically on offenses against sexual liberty and family welfare.
