Public safety officials in La Paz reported zero serious incidents during the first four days of Semana Santa, covering April 2 through April 5. The midpoint review, known in Mexico as a “saldo blanco” report, confirmed no major crimes, accidents, or emergencies across the city and surrounding rural areas.

660 Officers Deployed Across La Paz

A force of 660 officers from multiple agencies coordinated the operation under a security table chaired by La Paz Mayor Milena Quiroga. The city established 30 assistance points spread across urban neighborhoods and outlying rural zones to provide coverage during the peak holiday travel period.

Officers and emergency personnel assisted roughly 70 motorists who experienced breakdowns, flat tires, or needed tows. Another 97 people received on-site help at the assistance stations, and crews completed 22 medical transfers during the four-day stretch.

Operation Continues Through End of Holiday

The coordinated security operation will remain active through the end of Semana Santa. Holy Week is one of the busiest travel periods in Baja California Sur, drawing both domestic tourists and foreign visitors to La Paz’s beaches, the Malecón, and popular day-trip destinations like Balandra and Isla Espíritu Santo.

The saldo blanco designation is a standard benchmark used by Mexican authorities after holidays, concerts, and large public events. It means no fatalities, no serious injuries, and no major criminal incidents were recorded during the reporting window.

La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur with a population of roughly 300,000, has long been considered one of the safer cities on Mexico’s Pacific coast. The city’s security coordination during holiday periods typically involves municipal police, state police, the National Guard, Civil Protection, and Red Cross personnel working from a unified command structure.

The next official security update is expected after the holiday period concludes on April 12. As reported by BCS Noticias.
